Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Alva campus is partnering with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) to hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the Student Center Ranger Room.
All blood donors will receive a free “SET SAIL” T-shirt, free health screenings and donor rewards points. Each donor receives a chance to win a seven-day Caribbean cruise for two courtesy of Cruises, Inc., along with a gift card to help with ground travel expenses to the Port of Galveston.
The donor goal is 80 units.
“This drive is so important,” Theresa Lemke, social work secretary and service learning coordinator, said. “Even though the goal is smaller, so many people do not think about donating blood around the holidays, and this is the time of year that blood banks are at their lowest.”
Save time and complete the screening questions online at obi.org/donor-express. The confirmation sheet must be printed the day of donation. Please have a photo ID available to give blood.
“We are always happy to accept volunteers,” Lemke said. “I will have an hourly work schedule in my office, and students, faculty and staff can contact me if they want to sign up for a time to help.”
The event is sponsored by Northwestern Cheer and Dance.
To make an appointment, to volunteer or have questions answered please contact Lemke at (580) 327-8134 or tmlemke@nwosu.edu.
