Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s rodeo team has been busy recruiting, and over the last two weeks has received three signed letters of intent from incoming freshmen.

Trevor Foote and Tyler Forell of Alva have committed in the team roping event, and Kerri DeGroff of Broken Bow will compete in barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping and goat tying.

“It’s always exciting when we get local students to sign on the team,” Rodeo Coach Stockton Graves said.  “It is a great compliment to our program to see how many students want to stay in Alva and compete for Northwestern at the collegiate rodeos.  We’ve had the chance to see some great recruits this year already, and I have no doubt that we are going to pull together a really strong team for next year.”

All three recruits sat down with Graves, as well as their parents, to negotiate scholarships and plan for their arrival in the fall.

The Ranger Rodeo Team will continue its spring season April 9-11 in Weatherford.  With three rodeos to go, the women’s team has a substantial lead in the regional standings, and the men’s team is currently sitting fourth.
