University Singers to Perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City in March

Twenty-one members of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s premier choral ensemble, the University Singers, currently are preparing for their East Coast Performing Arts Tour in New York City this spring. The group will be gone March 15-19 and will visit a variety of venues.

The tour will begin with a performance at St. John the Devine on March 16 at 10 a.m. The second performance will be March 17 at 8 p.m. at the Carnegie Hall/Weill Recital Hall. The group will end its performances on March 18 with a concert at the United Nations, time to be announced.

“The purpose of the trip is to promote Northwestern Oklahoma State University and our music department at the highest musical level,” said Dr. Irene Messoloras, assistant professor of music.  “Students will perform a variety of music focusing from the Renaissance to contemporary. We are honored to serve as ambassadors to Northwestern and look forward to an unforgettable experience.”

The University Singers include: Austin Anderson, Beaver freshman; Scott Bartley, Enid senior; Erica Bertram, Havilland, Kan., sophomore; Rachel Carter, Alva freshman; James Faulkner, Hooker junior; Joshua Faulkner, Hooker senior; Aaron Ford, Cheyenne senior; Naicee Gugelmeyer, Hardtner, Kan., sophomore; Shayna Hamilton, Vici junior; Erin Hopkins, Fairview junior; Dalton Imberi, Woodward freshman; Bryce Lewis, Alva junior; Chance Mayhall, Ponca City freshman; Kenneith McIntosh, Del City junior; Isilei Ofiu, Anchorage, Alaska, junior; Alexandria Skinner, Burkburnett, Texas, junior; Adriana Tibbetts, Beaver freshman; Lauren Turner, Woodward senior; Cynthia Watkins, Laverne freshman; Riley Wiebener, Alva senior; and Morgan Biaggi, Boise City junior.

As the university’s main touring ensemble, the University Singers performed in Shanghai and Beijing on a nine-day performance tour in Spring 2013 and were invited to perform as one of only 10 groups at the National Association for Music Education Conference in Nashville, Tenn., in October 2014.
