“Women of Distinction” is a quarterly magazine dedicated to those who have demonstrated leadership in their respective fields. Featuring women-only professionals from all across North America in various fields, the magazine includes biographies and highlights some of their greatest achievements throughout their career.
Barrett is an adjunct in the education department at Northwestern, giving her the opportunity to teach at her alma mater, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in education.
“It was a true honor to be selected to this magazine,” Barrett said. “One of the greatest ways to pay back a school and its community is to share the wonderful education and opportunities it holds for northwest Oklahoma and beyond.”
Barrett teaches various courses for the education department’s graduate programs. She designs lesson plans and assignments and sets up and maintains Blackboard accounts, keeping open communication with her students.
“The Division of Education has been delighted to have Mrs. Barrett teaching courses in the Master of Education programs,” Dr. Beverly Warden, chair of the division of education, said. “The students describe Mrs. Barrett as an awesome teacher, very knowledgeable about the subjects she teaches and very understanding. She is very involved with her students and offers suggestions and comments that expanded our educational experience.”
