Throughout the week of homecoming on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campus there will be a number of events for students including “Coke and Candy” with Rowdy, a powder puff football game, a dinner and a movie, a bon fire, and a Rally ‘Round the Ranger pep rally.

The public is welcome to attend the traditional Miss Cinderella Talent Show and Pageant. The Talent Show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, with the Pageant on Friday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m., both in Herod Hall Auditorium.

Events for alumni and friends begin Friday, Oct. 17, with the Alumni Baseball Game and Barbeque at 7 p.m. at Myers Stadium.

The Ranger Run, along with breakfast on the square, will kick off homecoming activities for Saturday, Oct. 18, at 8 a.m. on the downtown square. The alumni tent will have coffee and donuts at 9 a.m. The annual parade will start at 10 a.m. with Parade Marshal Rex Mahlman, a longtime Northwestern supporter and former chair of the business department, leading the way. Seven bands and several floats also will take part in the parade this year.

A $6 barbeque lunch will be provided by the Northwestern Alumni Association and prepared by the Rowdy Rangers following the parade at noon at the Alumni Tent on the downtown square. All members of the President's Association will eat for free.

Also, members of an alumni band will have a rehearsal at 1 p.m. on the third floor of the Fine Arts Building, a number of reunions will take place, and the dedication of the Northwestern Newsroom in honor of Wayne Lane, a longtime Northwestern journalism instructor and public relations director, will take place at 1 p.m. on the second floor of the Jesse Dunn Annex.

The women’s volleyball team has a game at 11 a.m. in Percefull Fieldhouse, and the Ranger football team takes on East Central University at 3 p.m. at Ranger Field.

Ranger Royalty will be announced at halftime of the football game, and Northwestern’s band members will perform along with a massed band.

Anyone still needing to purchase a homecoming button for $10 (a $38+ value) should contact Karen Koehn at (580) 327-0344.  Wearing a button will provide admission to the Thursday and Friday Cinderella events ($10 each night) and Saturday’s football game ($18 at the gate).

Each homecoming button is numbered and has a chance to win $500 in Alva chamber bucks.  The winning button will be drawn during the homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 18, and the drawn number must be present to win.

Making the button even more of a great deal, several local merchants will be offering discounts to patrons who wear a homecoming button into their businesses during the week of homecoming. A list of discounts and participating merchants is available at www.nwosu.edu/button-discounts.

Homecoming shirts, along with buttons, also are available from the Northwestern Alumni Association offices located in the Student Center. Contact John Allen, Alumni Association director, at (580) 327-8593 or jwallen@nwosu.edu for more information.
