‘Tis the season of giving for the Northwestern Oklahoma State University community. For the second consecutive year, the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association participated in the global online Giving Tuesday campaign to raise funds for student scholarships through its annual giving program, RISE (Rangers Investing in Students & Education). More than $26,000 was raised between Nov. 29 and Dec. 16.
Two anonymous alumni pledged $10,000 and alumnus Mary Lou Bryan, ’59, of Ponca City, Okla., pledged $2,000, totaling $12,000 in matching gifts during the campaign. The goal of $24,000 was reached Dec. 14 and additional donations were received by Dec. 16, creating a grand total of $26,462.28. The Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association also saw a significant increase of donors participating in the Giving Tuesday campaign, from 26 people in 2015 to 41 people this year.
“We are all very excited about the success of this year’s Giving Tuesday campaign,” said Skeeter Bird, Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association CEO. “Our main goal this year was to increase the number of donors for this event. We are enthusiastic that we increased our participation goal by more than 57 percent. We would like to thank everyone who contributed during Giving Tuesday. As always, our donors are clearly the reason for this huge success.”
Each gift is added to the endowment of the donor’s choice. If no choice is made, the funds go to the general endowed scholarship fund, RISE. Each gift helps Northwestern students in their pursuit of higher education.
