Northwestern student teachers gaining hands-on experience in area schools

Sixteen senior education students from Northwestern Oklahoma State University left campus at the beginning of the 2014 fall semester to gain hands-on experience as student teachers in area schools.

The students will return to campus for seminars in December. Their portfolio exit interviews will be during finals week in December.

Listed below are the students, their hometowns and teaching assignments.

English education – Jacob Streck, Kremlin, Medford High School.

Health and Sports Science Education – Colby Thrash, Hennessey, Cheyenne High School and Kanon White, Boise City, Cherokee High School.

Elementary education – Katelyn Caldwell, Drummond, Pond Creek Elementary; Kathi Jenlink, Montgomery (Texas), Alva Longfellow Elementary; Ashley McGovran, Okmulgee, Garber Elementary School; Lydia Scalise, Batavia (Ill.), Waynoka Elementary; and Amy Yankech, Enid, Enid Eisenhower Elementary.

Early childhood education – Jennifer Jones, Wakita, Medford Elementary; Jenny Harris, Covington Douglas, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Elementary; Carissa Hernandez, Enid, Kremlin-Hillsdale Elementary; Alysha Ham, Arnett, Shattuck Elementary; Kimberly Wrd, Lahoma, Moore Apple Creek Elementary.

Special education/Elementary education – Brittany Gregson, Blackwell, Ponca City Woodlands Elementary and Dori Mears, Ponca City, McCord Elementary.

AJ Bohlmann, Hooker, will teach music at Chisholm High School.
