Northwestern Oklahoma State University students from Oklahoma are encouraged to apply by Oct. 21 for a leadership opportunity in Oklahoma City March 13-17, 2015, as well as a $1,000 scholarship.
Students who have graduated from an Oklahoma high school and plan on pursuing a career in public service are eligible to apply for the 17th annual George and Donna Nigh Leadership Scholarship Academy. Applications are available in the Northwestern Financial Aid Office, Herod Hall, room 113.
Of the applications received, one student from Northwestern who demonstrates leadership qualities, high academic achievement and community involvement with Northwestern will then be selected to attend the Academy.
All lodging, meals and ground transportation in Oklahoma City while attending the academy will be covered by the Academy.
The curriculum for this five-day academy includes presentations on the most prevalent topics to the future of Oklahoma from prominent community and business leaders. Attendees also will experience government in action at the State Capitol.
Upon completion of the Academy those attending all activities will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship resulting from their selection and participation.
