Entry registration is now open to all Northwestern Oklahoma State University students, employees, retired employees and alumni for the 11th annual NWOSU Art Society (NAS) Art Show set for March 10-29 in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus. The public is welcome to view the show during the library’s normal hours of operation.
The entry deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 26. An online entry form is available at www.nwosu.edu/art-show-form.
For those who prefer to have a printed version of the form, a link to a Word file is available on the web page. The entry form can be filled out and emailed to Angelia Case, NAS sponsor, at arcase@nwosu.edu. It also may be printed and mailed or delivered to Case in Fine Arts 211.
Paper entry forms also are available on the Alva campus in Fine Arts 211, as well as in the J.W. Martin Library, near the front desk. Forms also can be found in the Enid campus library, and in the Woodward campus business office.
All art pieces entered into the show must be delivered to the Library no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Only those individuals with previous permission will be allowed to bring artwork later than March 5. No more than two items per category may be entered.
Categories and descriptions in the divisions of Studio Art, Artisan Crafts and Photography can be found at www.nwosu.edu/art-show-specs-descriptions.
More than $700 in prize money is available for the winning pieces entered by students. All winning entries will receive ribbons depicting first through third place. Each student division winner will receive a ribbon and a cash prize, and a student Best of Show also will be selected, earning a ribbon and cash prize.
All current and retired employees and alumni will compete against each other and will receive ribbons as category, division and Best of Show prizes.
Everyone entered in the art show will be eligible for the People’s Choice ribbon and $50 cash prize.
All artwork submitted to the show must be made by the individual entering the piece. No kits are allowed. If artwork has been shown in an NAS art show before, it may not be submitted again. Artwork must be appropriate according to university standards.
Winning art entries are eligible to be on display at a community art show in downtown Alva at Murrow’s FrameArt on Friday, April 4, during the First Friday Art Walk activities, 6 to 8 p.m.
“Members of the Art Society have been participating in several fundraisers this year to provide the more than $1,000 in funds necessary to make this show a reality each year,” Case said. “We thank those of you who have supported us in our efforts.
“We have a small group, and our members work so hard throughout the year to make this show happen so we can showcase the talents and creativity of our campus communities. Our club is here to provide a creative outlet to anyone in our campus communities who wishes to attend our meetings and be a part of the group, whether they’re fine artists, doodlers, photographers, crafters or those who just appreciate the arts and being creative. We’re always looking to add to our membership.”
