The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Singers have been invited to perform as one of the top collegiate vocal ensembles in the state of Oklahoma by the Oklahoma Music Educators Association. The ensemble will perform Thursday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. in the Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa. Tickets are $5.
The University Singers, a 24-voice ensemble, was established to bring musical and vocal excellence to Northwestern and the community of Alva. The University Singers tour regularly at the regional and national levels. Last spring, the ensemble embarked on a nine-day performing arts tour to China. They performed to sold out audiences in the cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou.
The University Singers include the following students: Erica Bertram, Haviland (Kan.) freshman; Naicee Gugelmeyer, Kiowa (Kan.) sophomore; Erin Hopkins, Fairview sophomore; Kyla Richard, Ponca City freshman; Alexandria Skinner, Burkburnette (Texas) sophomore; Riley Wiebener, Alva senior; Morgan Biaggi, Dalhart (Texas) sophomore; Shayna Hamilton, Vici sophomore; Bryce Lewis, El Reno sophomore; Rachel Lugendo, Lewisville (Texas) junior; Adrianna Tibbetts, Beaver freshman; Lauren Turner, Woodward senior; Aaron Ford, Cheyenne junior; Shanae Joachims, Alva senior; Dalton Lamberth, Sharon senior; Kenneith McIntosh, Del City sophomore; Isileli Ofiu, Jr., Anchorage (Alaska) sophomore; Austin Anderson, Beaver freshman; Scott Bartley, Enid junior; Arthur J. Bohlmann, Hooker senior; Michael Brown, Geary sophomore; Chance Mayhall, Ponca City freshman; and Jeremy Stubbs, Magee junior.
“It is a privilege and an honor to perform at this year’s Oklahoma State Music Educators conference,” said Dr. Irene Messoloras, fine arts chair and assistant professor of music. “The University Singers have worked very hard and are excited to represent our school at this distinguished event.”
The University Singers have been praised by music educators across the state as being the ultimate embodiment of the choral art.
“They maintain the highest level of professional performance discipline, mental focus, and artistic musicality and expression,” Messoloras said.
